ART CORPS™ is a comprehensive, developmental curriculum that teaches art fundamentals by bringing process-oriented, hands-on art experience to the classroom. The program’s success depends upon volunteers who are trained in workshops to teach art in the classroom. The program provides students with a cumulative set of skills and experiences.
ART CORPS™ is a hands-on experience, allowing every child to experience their artistic abilities in a positive way. We believe that everyone is an artist. Art gives our children a unique opportunity to react to their environment and gives them a chance to develop individuality and self-esteem. Anyone can feel comfortable with art because there are no mistakes; there are no right or wrong answers. Every student has his or her own unique response to every lesson.
Throughout ART CORPS™, children are encouraged to experiment, to take chances, to explore and test new ideas. This gives children a sense of freedom that they do not always find in reading, writing, math, and social studies. We believe that this same freedom and experimentation enhances studies in other subjects. Children need opportunities to develop creativity and analytical skills in order to reach their full potential.
In a world that is becoming more and more technologically complex and structured, art gives children a unique opportunity to exercise their creative abilities in a positive non-competitive atmosphere. Our goal is for each child and volunteer to feel good about their experience with art and to feel good about themselves.
Volunteers Needed to Teach ART CORPS™!
Please help bring art into our wonderful school. This is a short-time commitment that leaves a life-long positive impression.
ART CORPS™ is a comprehensive, developmental curriculum that teaches artistic fundamentals by bringing hands-on art experience into the classroom. The success of this program depends upon parent, guardian or grandparent volunteers who are trained at ART CORPS™ Workshops held at Jerabek.
These easy-to-teach lessons and informative workshops, help thoroughly prepare any volunteer for success in bringing art to your child’s classroom.
You do not need a teaching or art background! Lessons, manuals and materials are provided. Volunteers attend 1-hour workshops, 1 time a month, lead by ART CORPS™ Workshop Leaders. Every volunteer is given the opportunity to learn how to implement and teach the lessons. We ask that volunteers set aside approximately 1-2 hours, 1 time a month, in order to teach the 8-10 art lessons throughout the school year.
ART CORPS™ Class volunteers work collaboratively with one another in teaching the lessons and assisting children in class. We end the ART CORPS™ Program with a school-wide Art Show. Every single Jerabek student will have an art piece exhibited in the Art Show.
We need volunteers now and welcome volunteers throughout the year.
